Batchserv, workgroups, diffusion...

HI

Xsibatch and BatchServe are not exactly the same (the service is the
difference). Sandy is right, on the clients you need to verify in the services
that the user (in the logon tab) that starts the BatchServe service has the
workgroup set correctly in XSI.

So, right-click on My Computer choose Manage then click on Services. On the
right windows you double-click on the XSIBatchServeclient service, then Open
the logon tab. If your service is logging on with local system account you need
to change this and use an account that will have access to the shared location
on the network where your scenes are located. Then you take that users, login
in windows with it, open XSI and set the workgroup path.

It's more likely to be some kind of an xsibatch setup thing than it is a
batchserve thing. All Batchserve does is kick off Xsibatch and start
rendering frames. If you're having problems with shaders and workgroups you
should be sure that the workgroup paths are set correctly on all your slaves
and that these paths are visible from those slaves.

One way of doing quick a quick check to see if it's set up OK is to run an
xsibatch on a slave to render the scene and see what happens. One of the
more annoying things about Batchserve is it's unfriendly logging system and
trying to track down problems like this can be hard. Output from the
xsibatch would likely be more informative.
