John,

I cant say anything about your crashes as we need info - like when/how.
What are you doing when they happen (point edit/ animating/ texturing/
rendering etc.  Are you experiencing similar problems with other software
on your machine.  Also have a search of the caligari forums
(forum.caligari.com), there a lot of problems, solutions and work arounds
that have been discussed there.  It is quite possible that your specific
crashes have been documented on there already.

With regard to your rendering issues make sure you have multi-threading
turned off when rendering from ts.  There seem to be some issues with
rendering in this mode.  For a start tS is often faster rendering single
threaded.  Ts and the render engine were written before hyper-threading, so
things aren't optimised for this. With regard to the rendering artifacts,
it seems that most of the problems that I have experienced are with 3rd
party plugin shaders, although some of the built in ones don't always
perform as they should.  There also seem to be some issues relating to
multi-layered textures as well.  There are also some plugins that actually
crash truespace when rendering in multi-threaded mode.

I realise this isn't necessarily good news, but it should help you to get
more out of tS
