I like that sucker (the shader and the mug) gonna hafta figure that one
out.

And to answer both you and John Gaubatz. The idea for a weekly
competition is meant more to be a weekly challenge.

I like your idea of someone supplying an object for texturing . . .maybe
a scene for lighting.
The whole purpose I was thinking was to have a weekly "task" that
everyone who wanted to participate in could. Then, everyone involved
that week would share their progress, get tips from each other, and make
it more of a "classroom project" enviornment. Maybe it could be extended
to a month like John said. That will people with limited schedules
during the week (me included) more time to work on them.

I imagine them to not be overly complex or time consuming projects. I
want people to be able to participate without
taking away from other projects and/or jobs.

Let me know what you think. I think this would be good for everyone.

P.S. I have a community type idea, but I want to do some work on it
myself before I throw it out there.

P.P.S. Why limit it to just modeling? You could also focus on texuring
one week, and lighting the next, then composition. Perhaps supply an
object and see who can texture it the best. Then make a simple scene
then see who can light it the best, or place the objects in the most
interesting composition. Keeping it simple would allow people to dabble
with it, but not spend so much time on it that they are not working on
the "challenge" from 3 months back. All those elements are key to a
great image, and necessary if you want to make it on the Caligari
contests.
