Olivier, I'm a bit puzzled by your size descriptions - what exactly is the
4x3 you mention?
11338*8525 pixels at 300 dpi translates into an image roughly 96 centimeter
wide and 72,25 cm high. This is bigger than A1 (if you operate with such
measures) and makes for a pretty big poster. Like Kim said, dependant on the
final print size and viewing situation (very important), you usually would
not need to render CG that big for print - upping the resolution in PS, a
bit of sharpen filter if you scale up a lot and set to 300 dpi will doi the
trick in most cases. Think of billboards and those huge wall sized prints on
buildings - the source material for them is not 5 x 10 meters at 300 dpi.
That would be an image at 60.000 x 120.000 pixels!!
Also check cgTileRender found at http://www.chris-g.net/scripts/ . I haven't
had use for it yet so I can't tell if it works but if it does it would
probably help you a lot ;)
BTW - get another gig of RAM. You won't be sorry!
