A new pic and a challenge?

And I was just trying to inspire myself... :)
Glad you liked it.  The mug uses the following:

Color (procedural): Modified ShaderMagic shader
Transparency: none
Bump: none
Reflectance: fast-GI (free version)

The color/reflectance combo is lethal (if I do say so myself). Makes for
some really cool textures. Example:

-back row is just changing values of the ShaderMagic shader
-front row is same but w/ fast-GI.

I believe the paint on this car utilized the color shader:

I'm getting a lot of mileage out of that shader (no pun intended :)

I can archive a scene w/ the shader if anyone is interested in it.

P.S.  I have a community type idea, but I want to do some work on it
myself before I throw it out there.

P.P.S. Why limit it to just modeling? You could also focus on texuring
one week, and lighting the next, then composition. Perhaps supply an
object and see who can texture it the best. Then make a simple scene
then see who can light it the best, or place the objects in the most
interesting composition.  Keeping it simple would allow people to dabble
with it, but not spend so much time on it that they are not working on
the "challenge" from 3 months back.  All those elements are key to a
great image, and necessary if you want to make it on the Caligari contests.

Inspired by Erik, thought I'd have a go at some thumb tacks. Got some
lighting issues, and the paper needs help.

<http://www.rift3d.com/truespace/tacks.jpg> Really trying to get an
image or short project each weekend to try different techniques. I know
people have tried this in the past, but let's try a weekly modeling
challenge. Or, simple scenes and or themes. Or, making an image using a
certain technique and/or tool(s)? Any ideas out there? How about a
stapler? By the way Erik, I really like the texture of your mug. What is
it? Procedural? Ed
