I agree for renderman and it's motionblur / displacement speed. But for
Brazil and co. I'm not certain...

Maybe I'm old school but one render engine is just perfect for me !
It is so funny when I saw my friends on maya/max fighting to learn a new
render rengine.
I think there is better things to learn...

there's always reasons for different renderers. Some are just better for
some things than others. Ask anyone from a renderman background who's
struggled with displacement and motion blur.  Equally, renderman's not so
hot at ray tracing. You really should be able to choose a renderer best
suited to the task at hand.
