A new pic and a challenge?

Hi Ed,
Your tacks look good. I sometimes tend to overlook what makes a scene,
instead I think complex scenes and end up not finishing anything. : p

I like the idea of a challenge, but a weekly challenge might be tough for
some. I participate in a newsgroup challenge using Autodesk Inventor. That
challenge is one model a month and it's how fast you can model it while
being totally accurate. I'm 3 for 3 so far this year, but my times are too
long (about an hour or less).\

I was actually trying to model the stapler that is on my desk when I ran
into a fillet problem, which I posted a separate question.

I would be interested in participating, though I couldn't guarantee the
quality of the models. ; ) I think everyone should model their favorite
cartoon character. It would be interesting to see what people come up with.
Really, you could just about do anything you have laying around your office
space:
Pens,
Pencil
PC Speakers,
Peppershaker,
Ruler,
Tape dispenser,
Note pad.
Minnesota Vikings Football Helmet,
Just about anything. What would be interesting is how it is modeled. Pure
artistic expression has no limit and doesn't have to be exact. My problem is
it does have to be exact.

John
PS, I wasn't sure if the first attempt at sending this email  went though or
not.

Inspired by Erik, thought I'd have a go at some thumb tacks. Got some
lighting issues, and the paper needs help.

Really trying to get an image or short project each weekend to try different
techniques. I know people have tried this in the past, but let's try a
weekly modeling challenge. Or, simple scenes and or themes. Or, making an
image using a certain technique and/or tool(s)?

Any ideas out there?

How about a stapler?

By the way Erik, I really like the texture of your mug. What is it?
Procedural?
