Back you can use the "reload externally modified image clips on focus" to shut it up while working in the scene. but loading the scene will still be slow.
clean your clips and sources on a regular basis?
if i see a dangling clip or source that wont go away. sometimes i go an make a fake file of that name in that place then run clip and source cleanup.
