XSI 4.2 and glibc versions

XSI 4.2 and glibc versions

Hi Guys (and support guys - figured I'd copy you in so you could add
this to your database),

Just thought I'd pass you some anecdotal findings ;-) Your site says
XSI works with glibc 2.3.X after some messing around (only with
gentoo, which I know isn't supported, but you may want to check this
on other distros) it appears that XSI doesn't work properly with glibc
2.3.4 or 2.3.5 - however it works perfectly with 2.3.3

Glibc related problems include

FXTree crashes (such as when inspecting the color correct ppg - though
I've not tested for the crash only for it missing as someone else told
me about this one)

Base internal scripts failing to install on startup - many of the base
things like rendering.vbs etc (sorry can't remember all the names -
but they won't work reliably)

Delete not working, creating new materials not working etc, but I
believe much of this to be related to the base scripts not
functioning. My guess is that glibc breaks the scripting engine - so
it could be a mainwin thing for this part.

Anyway - hopefully this will be helpful for someone, somewhere, sometime.

Cheers,

Alan.
