I think you have to populate the logic property in order to create PPGs
on-the-fly with logic.

this is true. In fact, despite what I said, there are cases for using logic
code. In particular if you have to build PPGs with an unknown number of
buttons. But it's either one of the other and I really wish we could mix the
two, of at least have a way of tying one callback to more than one button or
item.
