Translating UV mapped procedurals?

Translating UV mapped procedurals?

I have a procedural texture which I want to flow along the surface of my object
, like a z-translation. Spatial projection and animated z-translation does not
cut it, so I have unwrapped the texture projection and now i need to move the
procedural along the surface using the UVW projection. I may have missed
something basic here but i can't seem to get it to work. I know I can work
around and render the procedural out as a texturemap and put it back on the
surface using the UV's but i'd like to stay procedural and flexible.

Anybody have ideas?

TIA!

Best regards
