converting autocad to xsi 2005-06-02 - By pargana.r@(protected)
Back Sure...
First thing you should do is to clean up the extra construction, reference etc lines in the dwg. You can do this using i.e. Rhino or AutoCad.
Then split the dwg drawings by usefull criteria like axis and layers i.e. selected all the lines belonging to the 1st floor, then save as .ai....and so on.
You can save the drawings as .ai or eps, or even IGES...(i wouldn't recomend the later,if the dwg is complex it will generate a ton of individual lines and slow down the refresh rate)
Import into XSI.
And align them as you see fit!
You can then use the several snap tools to help building lines over the .ai reference lines (you can even put the reference lines into a separate layer in XSI,and make them unselectable).
