Maya main animation pipline in ILM ? for 3d characters ? hmm 2005-05-30 - By Matt Lind
Back I don't think ILM is the center of the world either, but if the report is true it makes a pretty big statement when such a big studio installs XSI as the main commercial software of chioice for animation, then later tosses it out like an unfinished happy meal. If you read between the lines, it implies Softimage is not up to the task of producing production ready software and/or supporting it at an adequate level. The original poster doesn't have to supply an opinion to get the point of the story across.

Never intended to flame anyone. But the starter of this thread never voiced an opinion, only "mmm"s. Unless a top guy from ILM cares to answer our question, pretty anything that will be said in this thread is pure speculation and personal opinion based on "I know a guy who works there..."-type of comments. In short, I guess we'll see once again that discussion regarding XSI vs Maya vs ILM vs big studios vs small studios vs proprietary software vs wishlist and so on and so on.
As far as I'm concerned I feel that ILM is not the center of the world, so if they drop all but Maya it won't make a change in what I think about the softwares. In fact, I don't care, and I don't understand why it seems to be such a sensitive subject.
