I noticed yesterday that yup, that happens, but I never thought of it as a "bug" because, about half the time, I don't "click select" objects; I use the ObjectProperties window.
I tend to try to name all my objects (after having done up a huge complex scene full of "NoName"s and the subsequent maddening frustration of trying to go back and fix certain details). SO a backdrop would be, rather unceratively, "BackDrop", a plane meant to represent the gorund would be "GroundPlane", a tree object is the tree name and the number that tS assigns to copies ("Hawthorn,1", "Cypress,6", "YellowIris,11" and so on), buildings have names ("Bank", "DonutBldg", "BigBrown", or whatever) and all their subparts (now at least!) have names, tho' I do use abbreviations, like "Wind" or "W" for "Window". The dragonfly has 4 wings, ("Wing", "Wing,1", "Wing,2", "Wing,3") and 6 legs (similarly anmed with subparts also named).
So, if I want to select anything, esp. since there are usu. a few layers of things, I select it using the ObjectProperties window (which is a permanent fixture of my personal tS configuration, because I use it so much that I was spending half my time re-opening it).
