Here is an interesting link that explains the differences between the
Quadro and Geefore cards.

I have that card on my prostar laptop, and I love it.   I can't compare
it directly to a Quadro FX Go 1400, but my personal experience with
Quadro cards has been that they're probably not worth the money for most

people.  On laptops, maybe that's been different for a while, but the
only cards my laptop doesn't outperform now are other NV40-series
cards.  For any realtime effects, this thing will beat the pants off of
the FX series chips.  It flies on fragment shaders.  As far as I know,
the only practical advantage the Quadro has is certification, which
looks good on paper and will earn you a little respect on support calls,

but won't necessarily give you much additional stability over a
consumer-grade chip.  Maybe other people have had different
experiences.  Also, I've heard second-hand that the latest version of
Maya freaks out on uncertified hardware, so that might be a
consideration as well.  The only crashes I've had all seem to be OpenGL
mode related, and usually only happen when I'm pushing particles in GL.

The two errors I've encountered are 1) refresh issues in the viewports
and explorer, and 2) screen blanking when attempting to display  lots of

OpenGL particles.  Everything else has been at least as solid as any
other machine I've worked on.
