Back I'll second that, absolutely to the letter. I went through a nasty patch where I'd already got mysql and apache installed in the default (correct) locations - batchserve insists they be in other (wrong) locations. I used the correct versions but had there where they should be so the rest of my server setup would work. Batchserve didn't and I had a hell of a time figuring the whole damn thing out and still not gettting it to work, and I've done a fair bit of this kind of stuff over the years. It hacked me off no end that I have to bugger about with a perfectly working system just to get batchhserve working, so I slung it out the window.

The best tip is to follow their instructions to the letter - and biggest tip of all - USE the versions of the relevant software that they mention - do not be tempted to install newer versions, the times I have done that nothing works - it is possibly if you are a complete networking guru to fix things, but as I say the versions they mention work with the instructions!
