Changing Defaults 2005-05-23 - By Andy Jones
Back What's really annoying is that even when you duplicate a pass, it changes some options, like the image format, back to the default. Why would it do that? As far as output image formats are concerned, XSI only exposes a few of the options. Mental Ray can actually write a lot more formats. In particular, .iff is really useful as it supports floating point, has good compression, and is well-supported in programs like Shake. It's possible to make a geometry shader that changes the output format to anything Mental Ray supports.
