i actually can't get the one in netview to work...morten b. reported the
same problem a couple of weeks ago, which got brad's creative juices
going...

this one also creates fcurves...for transforms, visibility, color, and
more...it also sticks a custom property on each attached object that gives
you info on the non-plotted properties (like ParticleID).

Hi Maggie,

How is this different from the one provided in the simulate netview?
(apart that you can decide how many objects is allowed to be attached
beforehand)

Thanks

hey alex,

brad just finished an "object to particles" plugin that we'll be posting
as
soon as we iron out one problem with the documentation (of all things!).
it
will attach geometry to particle trajectories and create fcurves for
them
that you can tweak to your heart's content. it handles potential memory
problems by letting you dermine beforehand how many of the objects xsi
can
reasonably handle before it becomes a problem.

i'd be glad to send it to you...it may be the thing you're looking
for...and
to anyone else who wants to try it out before we officially post.

just email me offline,

maggie

Subject: Frozen Particles

Good evening all,

I am making a tree, I have modeled the branches et all... And
thought to add the leaves I would use particles. I have a good effect
going.
I then freeze the particles, so there is no movement. create a model
from the tree geometry and the frozen cloud, then instance it so I can
make a nice big forest.

however it is taking for ever to preview, I waited about five mins
before the first block even appeared. and seeing as I only had about
twenty instances. its going to be a pretty rubbish forest !!

Am I going about this the right way.. does anyone know of a better way
to add leaves without having to do it all by hand. It would be lovely
if I could convert the particles to geometry. But seeing as they are
instanced to begin with, I would imagine this isn't possible.

any pointers would be a great help, as I am going to be stuck at work
all weekend working on this.

thanks in advance
