syflex nails go bad 2005-05-10 - By matt hollingsworth
Back Hey guys,
Anybody run across this? I keep having nails just go bad in XSI. So, for istance, I have some syflex cloth that is being pulled by a nail. I'll be working with the cloth and changing settings, but NOT changing the nail settings at all and not moving the animation of the nail or otherwise even doing anything at all with the nail. Then, I'll reopen the scene to do more work, and the nail will have gone bad. The nail is exactly the same, in the same place and everything, but the cloth will pull like 20 units in the negative Z for some reason and not follow it's own nail. I have a nail that is nested inside a sphere, and the sphere is on a path animation. I've tried clearing the cache and all that, but no good. So, I end up having to delete the nail and it's cluster constraint, create a new nail and drop it inside my sphere that's pulling it and it's fixed. The cloth has no other constraints on it that would conflict with it's own nail, no other constraints period.
Do these nails just go bad for some reason? Can't think of anything else that's doing this. I've had this happen a ton of times in the last week and am getting annoyed at constantly having to redo work because of this.
any comments or ideas are appreciated.
cheers,
-M
