back in the days i took a couple of classes at gnomon in LA. it was pretty good
, well structured, taught by industry professionals. however, i was a bit
disappointed with the student body. people slacked off, didn't do their
homework, etc, as if paying high tuition alone would get them a job. if you're
self-motivated and don't need competition to excel, that shouldn't be a problem
though. it was also fairy expensive, but it seems like that's the way it is
everywhere in the U.S. nowadays. big advantage of going to school in LA: lots
of work just around the corner.

academy of art in San Francisco has a pretty good animation program i heard.
haven't been there myself but that's what some of my coworkers say.

dunno whether either of those teaches on XSI though.people are really obsessed
with the *rolls his eyes* 'industry standard'. ridiculous!

also, it will be a huge advantage to do a bit of 'traditional' art to go along.
often times fundamentals like composition, value, perspective, colour, light
etc get neglected in favour of technical skills. also useful: drawing skills to
quickly communicate ideas. IMO, it's those fundamentals that are harder to
learn than how to use 3d and comp software. you might be more likely to get
that from one of the larger, more traditional colleges than the specialized
'visual effects' schools.

good luck!

My coworker went to VFS (vancouver film school). He said it was ok. A few other
ppl I know have gone to SCAD (savannah college of art and design) and they
liked it as well. One thing to keep in mind though is that school alone is not
going to net you a job...that comes from passion, perseverance and a ton of
hard work. There are a bunch of kids being churned out by "3D" schools that
think once they have that diploma/degree that they are guaranteed a job...but
it's the content of the portfolio that matters.

Can anyone recommend a good school in the States
for Animation/Modeling/Texture as well as Game Design?
Anyone go to Fullsail>?
Any schools to/not to attend>?

I appreciate it.
