Back Polytrans only support the MAX file format if you use their Polytrans for MAX plugin ie, you have to have MAX installed and be using Polytrans plugin, not the standalone. That's explained here http://www.okino.com/conv/filefrmt _3dimport.htm .

Have you try Polytran from Okino? http://www.okino.com/default.htm

I could be wrong but I don't think you can import MAX files outside of MAX...it's a proprietary format, Even with translation utils like Deep Exploration you have to have MAX instaled on your system in order for them to work. I've been wrong before so feel free to prove me otherwise :)

Thanks Ed, TwigGen was indeed what I was thinking of. Unfortunately none of the links provide a way of importing Max files into XSI. I have a bunch of models in that format from TurboSquid that I need to bring in.

For the 3DSMax dotXSI export tool check here: http://www.softimage.com/Connect/xsi/FreeConnections.htm
As for branches... perhaps you are looking for Xfrog? http://www.xfrog.com
Or maybe TwigGen? (Near the bottom of this page...) http://www.edharriss.com/XSIscripts/scripts_modeling.htm

Does anyone know where I can find an add-on for MAX (I have the one for 3ds- works great).
Also, someone a while back mentioned a procedural modeler for creating tree branches that works with XSI. Does this ring a bell with anyone?
Thanx in advance, Larry Chandler
