A good article on "What is the best renderer? " 2004-02-16 - By Jonathan G. Koehn
Back This was a good article for learning about a variety of rendering solutions. It would seem that the knowledge of some rendering is perhaps not correct. Though overall quite good, most are quite small. The PRman description on the smooth results, versus a normal polygon renderer, was inaccurate, a render built correctly does not compute all polygons for each sub pixel, unless settings required it.
Also I'm not totally convinced on Mental Rays highly acclaimed GI I would deferr to Jensen's renderer for GI quality. Mental Ray in one render I saw had too much color bleeding perhaps this was just abad choice of settings, though I think it was suppost to duplicate Cornell scene, it wasn't very good.
Me personally would like to see more on PRman, and Brazil, but I would like to see some of the professor's renders especially Jensen's
Overall a good read, but like everything take it with a grain of salt, noting that this also is perhaps opininated by the writer. Best,
