What artists ' work do you go to for inspiration? 2005-04-28 - By kim aldis
Back If lighting is your thing, look further back in the movies. One of the best lit movies I've ever seen is Orson Welle's 'A Touch of Evil'. The original 60's series of 'The Outer Limits' was also far better lit than most people give it credit for. These were all lit using hard light sources, arguably of particular relevance to us but most importantly they're good illustrations basic lighting technique and because they're hard light sources it's easy to see how the lighting is constructed.
One of my favourite modern movies for lighting is Joel and Ethan Cohen's 'The Man Who Wasn't There'.
Also look to the great stills photographers. Edward Weston, Art Kane, Brian Griffin, Snowdon.
