whats with Avid3D Outgoing folder and Avid Media Files folder?

What if you want to export files from a local machine to say an Avid
Xpress or Xpress Pro suite using AAF is there an advantage to doing this
vs. just putting a sequence of tiffs on a drive and then importing them
using the NLE

The AAF files are wrappers / containers for the MXF media files, so when
you are importing the AAF it's actually scanning the Avid Media Files
folder for the
corresponding MXF file.

The folders are created automatically when you check off create movie
and select AAF format in create movie tab of the render options.

I am in the process of using this option with our Avid editing systems.
The AAF files import  instantly into Avid Express and Adrenaline, but
what are the MFX media file used for?

I dont have to explain to anyone about things being on your computer
that you dont want or ask for (a la bernard's spyware trouble)

so what are these and why are they there? I didn't install Avid3D. I
have XSI not Avid3D.

I just deleted them and if they are there when i restart my computer i
will really be pissed.
