I think it depends on your compositing needs. The advantages of the FXtree
are; it's fast as hell, it's inside Xsi, plays nicely with it, it's fast
approaching fully featured, it's scriptable and as Michael says, you can do
pretty much anything. For prototyping and testing or for not so complex jobs
I'd use it at the drop of a hat but it's not yet shake - nor was it intended
to be and there'll come a point where you may want to move up a notch.

I use it whenever I can but the best thing you can do is try it for
yourself, see how you get on. if you reach limits then it's no biggy to move
it over to something more dedicated.
