Back I can't use the alpha channel because I needed a random sequence for the sprite image and an other random sequence for the matte.
I could override the sprite image in the render tree but I can't use this option because I need the random sprite animation and there is no "random mode" in the particle_scalar node who control frames in the particle sprite node.
Anyway, I did the job with two scenes files ( remember me Lightwave days ;-) ).
