Thanks - I thought that seemed to be the case. It would be nice if there was a way to define them when defining the geometry. You could ensure the normals were exactly what you were after then. Ahh well - I'll see how it goes with the auto ones first. If that gives trouble I'll try and figure out a way to save them off to add to a custom normals property to avoid having to recalculate them.
