Hi Kim,
Thanks for your suggestion. We got it working.

I've never seen anything like this before but in general I go for fine displacement; it's the later technology and although it sometimes mixbehaves I've generally found it to work better and faster than the older way.

Hi Kim,
We have a large nurbs cylinder 100 x 400 deformed along a spline to simulate at blood vessel. We have two hexagonal textures on it to show the cell structure, one in colour and a related one for a displacement map. Because of the twisted nature of the deformation and the perspective of the camera, a bump map does not give the right results. The texture is tiled 50 x 240 over the surface. At lower resolutions the displacement works fine, but at higher resolutions it fails to show up at all. The picture renders fine otherwise, but the displacement isn't showing in it. For the cylinder I have Geometry Approximation - Surface set to Parametric u3 v3 - Displacement set to Length/Distance/Angle with Length at 1, Distance at 0 and Angle at 0. View Dependant is checked ON. Min 0 Max 3 Thanks for any assistance you may be able to provide.

We are rendering a high resolution (3200x2400) still from the
animation but the deformation disappears (fades to nothing)
Any insight would be much appreciated.
