Back If something gets to that degree of complexity I usually prefer to move on to scripted expressions (read SCOPs). They are also a lot more powerful and easier to rewire.
I usually draw the line at more then 2 nested conditions.
Is that an option for you?

Sorry if this is obvious, and I'm surprised I haven't stumbled into this much sooner....
Am I mistaken or didn't we have variable fields in the old Soft3D expression editor? Is there any way to set variables in XSI? My expression is just getting craaazy long now due to long names and i'm finding it very hard to keep track of what's going on. Maybe we didn't, I really can't remember, but it would be damn useful.
