Subdivision Mesh with lvl 0

Subdivision Mesh with lvl 0

I'm looking for a way to create a subdivision without actually adding
extra polygons to the mesh. Sound weird? I have a polygonal subD cage
that was built with smoothing in mind, so it has overlapping polygons
that only smooth out into their intended form when the model is turned
into a subD mesh.

Now I need a polygonal version of this mesh where the overlapping
vertices have been pulled into the intended form, but where no extra
polygons were added to the mesh. Any ideas how to do this in XSI? Only
way I've been able to do this is by taking the mesh into Zbrush, which
adjusts lower levels as more subdivisions are added (so you add a subD
level, then drop back down to 0 and the vertices match the silhouette
of the higher level as well as possible).
