just in reading through this thread.. and being a long time soft/xsi
user as well...it seems like there might be something better for
everyone... since soft doesn't want to implememnt the old technology for
whatever reason.... why not improve the particles (blobby or otherwise)
to act more metaball like AND have better shader implementation...

wouldn't that be a fair comprimise?
