Back We used batchserver for a while - but it is not so easy to use - and you must load the scene before you can distribute the rendering. If you have very big scenes that fact slows down your whole workflow. I think compared with the renderfarming solutions in Digital Fusion or even 3D Max (Upps - sorry for that) batchserve is a little bit overdone. We use Smedge (it is quite cheap) and you can render everything with that tool. When you setup a dedicated smedge-server it is quite stable and comfortable.

We use Royal Render to manage about 30 machines...works great and can render just about anything. I agree that Rush might be a little more high-end but it will take quite awhile to setup and get all the kinks sorted out. RR can be setup in minutes.

I'm not intending to create a war here, but can you tell me which is for you the best render farm software... We are using Max, Maya, XSI, and after effects, and evaluating the posibility to buy a Digital Fusion also.
Thanks in advanced, Nacho
PD: Until now I only know deadline renderfarm, and Royal Render.
