animated MapColor refresh problem 2005-04-07 - By Eric Lampi
Back You are correct, colormap doesn't work for instances.
First of all I would like to say, the FXtree and it's usefulness is greatly underappreciated, you'll understand why in a second...
Run your clip through the FXtree to do your Color Correction or other manipulations.
Use load clip, and plug whatever CC or other operations between the in and out.
Works quite nicely actually, and it's a lot more efficient than using an image sequence since you don't have to have a bunch of frames pre rendered. It's also easier to Choreograph it with what's happening in the scene, you can update and make changes immediately by moving your keys around.
You can tie things like luminance to expressions and automatically drive the particles from other actions in the scene.
This is a pretty uncommon use for the FXtree, which is a shame because it's such a powerful feature! I know I get down on the particle system in XSI, but it's a love/hate relationship. There's some good stuff in there too.
