Back Have you tryied forcing a new upvector on the chains (later on down the line you can eventually remove it) and see if it helps?
Sometimes the various systems that can be used to resolve 2Dchains planes can end up being hidden or dodgy, like when giving it explicit upvectoring from an object will be considered a property of the chain and not a constrain appearing in various windows.

Hi,
I reloaded my scene this morning, and found out that the upper thighbones of the rig are flipped to the inside. Strangely enough the envelope is OK. The Preferred Rot. Angles are off, but changing them back to the values they should be doesn't change anything. Changing the roll will -180 dgr. will obviously not work on the envelope.
I can recall reading on this in here, but cannot seem to find it, and I'm probably looking in the wrong direction right now... %\
cheers for any quick repsonses,
rob wuijster
