It sounds like there's a problem with that area of geometry. You could try the fix geometry tool on the object, or, you could delete the edges around that area and try to discover what part of the geometry hasn't been created properly. Then (if you do find a problem) rebuild that small area again.
Also, try exiting TS and reloading the object in again. Then try editing the area again. TS may just be confused, which can happen from time to time while modelling.
