Opteron or xeon? 2005-04-05 - By Matt Lowery

Hi all,
just thought I'd ask before I make my choice. The situation is this... I'm
planning on buying a render PC for my desk top set-up, so I'm faced with two
options, dual Opteron or dual xeon. So if anyone can give me any advice as
to witch would perform better with xsi 4.2 a dual opteron 1.8 ghz or a dual
xeon 2.8 D. The price difference is not much but I'm going to be running
Windows so I know I won't be making the most of the opteron but such is
life, and for some reason I can't get hold of a dual K7 mother board so dual
Athlons is out of the question.
