Rigid Bodies | Reference models

Rigid Bodies | Reference models

2005-03-31       - By lyn Caudle

 Back
I'm not sure if we have been over this issue / bug / feature yet,
but....

If I take a model, say a table in this case. The table top is one object
and the post and feet are another object.
I add dynamic properties to the tabletop, mute the dynamics and
collisions and export this model.
In a new scene I bring this model back in as a Reference Model, place is
artistically in the scene. (very important!)
Read that as anything other than at the origin.
I save my scene then reload, now the tabletop is not where I left it.
It's very unartistically at the origin.

Workaround

I had to change the RBD Environment - Simulation Time Control - Active
to off in order to stop this from happening.
I had expected that If I mute the properties on the object it would
respect placement in the scene, even if it is a referenced model.
We also did a small expression on the -simulation time ctrl
active- property to toggle this when the rigid body property is made
active.

Something like " Table_HR_Live.Tabletop.RigidBodyProp.mute - 1"

Thanks
