quadruped Femur bone roll problem

quadruped Femur bone roll problem

2005-03-31       - By Oz Adi

 Back
I am rigging a quadruped, and encountered a problem...

when creating a quadruped from guide, then selecting one of the back legs, and
translating
the yellow cube, up, and a little forward (like trying to reach the animal's
head, with it's back foot)
once the Femur bone, goes higher than it's up-vector, it get a fast 180 degrees
roll inside..

this might sound reasonalbe, and it's also possible to compensate with lowering
the up-vector on Y..

but this didnt happen using the "old" quadruped", and frankly it was better.
(try getting the "old" quadruped, from Primitive>Model>Quadruped Rig... now try
to do the same
with one of the back legs... the roll doesnt happen)

I tried changing the resolution plane of the Femur bone, from up vector to
preffered angle...
this helps a little.. but not much of a solution...

anything that could be done here?

any help on this would be greatly appreciated..

:)

cheers,

Oz.
