xsi preferences for custom prop

xsi preferences for custom prop

hi list,

i have a self-nstalled custom property that contains a multi-line text
box that sereves as a kind of logging window. The problem is that the
text getting logged here usually contains lotsa newlines, and when xsi
goes to save the value in default.xsipref, it actually uses the newlines
in the log.value as newlines in the prefs file. This causes xsi to only
load the preferences value up to the first newline, thus not restoring
the entire log.value properly. The log also contains quotes.

I can't seem to wrap the string properly to ensure that the log is
restored. Any ideas?
I've noticed that strings getting saved to default.xsipref  aren't
written with quotes or anything similar, which isn't a problem until the
string contains newlines or other special characters :/
