Zone Alarm can cause XSI to freeze on startup. You have to uninstall ZA rather
than disable it if you want to test whether it is the problem.

I know this has been asked many times before, and I ignored it - i have a
machine, recently installed, that suddenly has decided it does not like to run
xsi - anyone got any pointers to stuff that XSI might not like!!!
