OK, if you want to start up a new, high-end 3D business, you usually get a business license (I'm not talking about "little potatoes" such as myself, tho' even I had gotten a business licence back when I lived in the Toronto area).
If there is any way to search various databases and find recently-acquired licenses for 3D-related businesses, then one could create a mailing list based upon the results and send out directed marketing products. CD'as are cheap to produce, so one possibility could be to send these companies a sample of top-notch images and anims made with tS. If Caligari wanted to go out on a bit of a limb, a free-but-crippled sample of tS could be sent with it, along with a brief e-book of instructions, tips, tutorials, sample scenes, or something similar so that the person can test the program right away.
Simply sending mailers with the website adderss is IMO not going to work as well, mostly because there already are too many bits of junk mail. That's why I think a partial-program with accompanying samples etc. might get more attention.
At the same time, IMO it's important to stress that tS can export models to other formats. It's my understanding that people prefer modeling in tS to 3DSM for example, so it might be good to market tS as both a stand-alone product and as a great adjunct to other programs.
OK, so that's my bit of kookoo drivel, HTH!
