I've been trying to run 4.2 on my Dell laptop (Mobility Radeon 9800) and it frequently freezes the computer to the point where working on complex scenes is a real hassle. Different drivers, underclocked to avoid suspected overheating etc. - all to now avail. Now XSI occasionally freezes my X800 desktop, as well, but never so much that I can't use XSI on a daily basis. If you're serious about running XSI on a laptop, consider a mobile FireGL or Quaddro chip. Or run Max or Maya, never had problems with those.
