Mesh not Envelopable? 2005-03-02 - By Thomas Shaw
Back Hello. I am learning weighting and animation and have hit a snag. I modeled this squirrel with an elephant trunk. Everything was great...I would envelope it, move the bones around and see how it was deforming, then freeze or alt-z to remove the envelope and fix the mesh where it was deforming badly.
Having gotten everything all worked out, suddenly, my mesh no longer "responds" to my skeleton... I envelope it by selecting bones like normal. The dialogue comes up about the envelope method (distance based) and the bones change colors. The mesh vertices change color to match the bones...
BUT...nothing happens when i move the skeleton around. I have gone back to make sure the mesh is frozen, I have exported the mesh and re-imported it, I have tried everything i can think of to clear any weird "transforms" the mesh might have that might be interfering ... nothing works. The mesh seems to completely ignore the bones now, despite seeming to be weighted to the bones...
Arrg! What is wrong? I need suggestions. I probably should just start all over.... --- Unsubscribe? Mail Majordomo@(protected) with the following text in body: unsubscribe xsi
