more Maya import issues.. 2005-03-02 - By Guillaume Laforge
Back I made a script who assign materials to an imported dotXSI. You will need to install python and win32 to use it.
http://www.vol2nuit.fr/scripting/dotXSI_QuickToGroups_01.pys
Description:
In Maya use Quick rename to give the same name to the objects with the same material. Ex : glass_01 , glass_02 , wood_01 , wood_02 etc... Export in dotXSI.
In XSI, create groups with materials assigned and create a model named "dotXSI". Select this model and import the dotXSI. You must edit the script to add your objects names and groups names in as many "dotXSI_InGrps" function as you want. Run script.
Cheers,
