importing models from maya 2005-02-28 - By Martin Bélanger
Back Hello Andi,
There's many converters out there. I don't know what you mean by best, Most of the converter out there have specialties, none have the magic recipe for converting evrything without losing anything. Here the list of products that can help you make your own choice.
-Obj format ( Limited to static polygon mesh only with attributes; single UV, Materials, clusters, texture ) -Collada ( Good potential here, free download Maya and XSI compiled plugins from www.collada.org ) But the maya plugin is very unstable and at early stage. -FBX ( free register download from the alias web site. ) -dotXSI ( from the softimage.com/connect ) Maya plugin that export/import to .xsi file. You need to compile it or find a compile version ( check xsibase.com there are links for the latest compiled verison in the blog) -Okino ( free trial ) -Right Hemisphere, deep exploration ( free trial )
Good Luck. -Martin
