Camera Animation Problem 2004-01-14 - By Thomas Moffat Grimes
Back Hi Cash,
Yes, the look at function will override any changes you make to the camera rotation. It can be keyframed though, as far as I remember - move to the frame where you no longer want Look At, click on it to turn it off, hit Record, and that should do it. You may need to go to Frame 1 and ensure you record Look At as being switched on.
HTH! Tom

I'm using TS 6.0, have 6.6 but haven't installed it yet, and I'm working with a scene file originally created back in 4+ or earlier but modified and saved in 6.0. Animating scenes has not been my prime usage, until now.
In the scene I have two cameras glued together ( to produce dual frames for 3D stereoscopic conversion ) in an animation path that horizontally circles then moves into an object that is stationary but rotating along its Y axis. Look-At is set to point the cameras at the object during the entire path. I want to change the camera path parameters such that when it gets to the point where it starts moving into the rotating object, the camera begins to rotate along the Y axis till it aligns itself, rotationally, with the rotating object. But I can't seem to change the cameras rotational path parameter. I can enter a value in the Y axis rotate parameter at that frame but no mater what I do it returns to the previous un-rotated value. I can set a key frame for it but I can't change the value. Is this because I'm using the Look-At function? If so, how do I undo the Look-At at the desired point in the path. Is there another way to do this or do I have to break the path into two sections and make the second one without Look-At and with the rotation in it?
