Also it is very easy to generate reflective materials by plugging in a
texture into the environment
node and controlling it with the intensity node.

HDRI is more for lighting your scen and as already stated info on this can
be found on:
http://www.debevec.org/

Why do you need to convert the image to HDR?

A cheap trick you can do is to extract the different intensity areas of
the image in PS and then mix it back together in XSI with a Mix8Color and
Intensity nodes to control how bright the different parts get.

Black material with high reflection.

I have one question : How is it possible to convert an image into a hdri
image.
I want the mirror effect.

I need some basic info on how to make a chrome effect.
A tutorial would help.
