Back What is the most complete pipeline for exporting files from XSI into Maya (and vice versa)? I've used the following and none of them seem ideal:
- FBX (it looks like it has the most potential, but stops for no obvious reason and with no warning on three quarters of the models I try)
- OBJ (despite lacking animation and good material support, it seems the best for just getting the geometry over without the hassles of FBX)
- dotXSI (after compiling the plug-in for Maya (!!) I can export from Maya into XSI, with surprisingly good results. From XSI into Maya, nothing appears in my scene)
By the way, this is for simple SRT animations. Many times I've had to export the camera animation as FBX, the models as OBJ, and then reanimate inside Maya. I've tried a large variety of option settings, and even did a little dance around my desk while chanting "In the name of Kim Aldis". No dice. So, I thought I'd ask the group..
