Back I'm currious,
Does anyone have any experience managing XSI projects with subversion and/or toirtoise that they can share?
I have a really strange production environment I have to deal with. I'm going to try and use this combination to manage it.
I've commited my project to a file system based subversion repository on my ipod. I have a machine at home and a machine at school, both of which I have full admin access to.
I intend to maintain checked out project directories on both machines and commit changes to the ipod when I leave a given machine. I'll update the local projects from the ipod when I start working on either machine. Occasionally I'll backup old revisions and then remove them from the ipod so I can keep my respository at a reasonable size for the ipod.
The annoying part I suspect, is going to be the Render_Pictures directory and the Backup directory... both of which I don't want under version control. I'll manage my rendered frames by hand. And the backup directory is something I'd like to leave as a local backup, not a part of the respository backup and versioning thing. I suspect its going to be a constant hassle to keep tortoise adding new files to the repository but ignoring these directories.
So does anyone have any pointers for this type of setup? Or even doing it via CVS? Or some other versioning system?
Thanks.
