Hello list - long time listener, first time caller here... so hello all.

I'm looking at setting up distributed rendering in a school situation,
but having read through white-papers and docs and threads, I'm a bit
dubious about the feasibility of the whole thing for my situation.. So
would greatly appreciate any advice here.

A few things I couldn't find answers to elsewhere..

-> Does the login to batch serve HAVE to have admin privileges?  If it
absolutely does, I wont go any further because there is no way we can
have an anonymous admin login in studio..

-> I read someplace that BatchServe can be a bit dicey with Quicktime
installed.  Quicktime is another non-negotiable for the school, so once
again, a yea on this one and I will go no further...

-> Also, just to double check - xsibatch does come with xsi 4.2 advanced
doesn't it... we dont need to purchase additional software?

-> And to the people who manage this kind of thing - realistically, how
often does it need to be tweaked (after its all set up)?

+ a few key background factors -

1.Students have 24 hour access to the studios so the whole thing needs
to be fairly idiot-proof and intuitive.

2.We need a GUI, BatchServe seems to be the obvious choice..

3.We dont have dedicated renderfarm machines - they're all in studio
with XSI advanced enterprise 4.2 installed...

many thanks,

Mel
